Audrey Schneider
Faculty Member
Audrey Schneider was a scholarship student of Jakob Gimpel and
Isabella Vengerova. She received the Master of Arts degree in Solo Performance
from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, SUNY, where she
completed the Bachelor of Arts degree, Summa cum laude. Her most recent
and extensive training has been with Edna Golandsky and Dorothy Taubman.,
whose pedagogical work on the prevention and cure of musicians' injuries
was the subject of an article she wrote for Clavier magazine, 1983. She
has lectured on the Taubman technique at the European Congress of Arts
Medicine in Munich, 1994 and in Berlin, 1998, as well as at the Westchester
Musicians' Guild, 1994, and the Association of Piano Teachers of Long Island,
1995. She teaches at her own private studio and annually at The Taubman
Institute summer program. She has performed in solo and duo piano recitals
at Queens College, Brandeis University, the Bethpage, Long Beach, Massapequa,
Northport and Shelter Rock Public Libraries and Steinway Hall. She has
collaborated in recital with singers and instrumentalists, and has been
featured in the "Chamber Music Live!" series at Queens College for the
past three years.
